Indian Professor Brij B. Gupta of the Computer Science & Information Engineering Department of Asia University was selected by Clarivate, a global professional information service provider, on the 2022 Highly Cited Researchers list in Computer Science as one of the world’s top 0.1% scientists and is the only scholar in the field of computer science in Taiwan and India. Asia University President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai specifically issued a plaque and research monetary award to praise Professor Gupta's contribution to promoting scientific research progress and congratulated the inauguration of the newly established International Center for AI and Cyber Security Research and Innovations (CCRI) of Asia University.
President Tsai said that Professor Gupta is also one of the world's top 2% scientists selected by Stanford University. Asia University encourages outstanding researchers to continue scientific research, increase the research energy and influence of Asia University, and guide students to move towards academic excellence.
Professor Gupta pointed out that in the highly digital network era, the network brings a more convenient and smart life but also brings risks. Cyberspace is considered the “fifth battlefield” beyond land, sea, water, and space. The protection of cyberspace by a nation is as important as the protection of geographical boundaries. Asia University's newly established CCRI is expected to play an important role in protecting cyberspace as a world-class research and incubation center in the field of computer science.
Professor Gupta said that the Center will use data science and AI to conduct research on network risks, threat intelligence, attack detections, and situational perceptions, so as to achieve risk management, innovation, information sharing, product development, and cooperation with key infrastructure units, as well as cultivate highly skilled network security professionals. At the same time, in order to help Taiwan’s security and automation industry develop and become a regional and international leader, we will devote ourselves to recruiting and training top researchers in the fields of AI and network security.
Professor Gupta has published more than 450 papers in international journals and conferences, as well as 25 books and 10 patents. His papers have been cited more than 15,000 times, and he serves as the chief editor of four journals. He has served as a visiting scholar in many universities and colleges in the United States, the United Kingdom, India, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Spain, and Italy, and has frequent exchanges with international scholars. The newly established CCRI will actively cooperate with international scholars to increase the world influence of Asia University.
