Asia University (AU) has achieved another milestone in its international strategic expansion. Khon Kaen University (KKU)—a top-tier research institution ranked 97th globally in the THE University Impact Rankings and consistently among the top three in Thailand—visited AU on the 11th. President Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul personally led a high-level delegation to engage in academic exchange. This visit focused on deepening substantive academic cooperation and exploring AU's teaching and research achievements in smart healthcare and semiconductors, further advancing the international collaborative layout for nurturing technology and management talent.
A formal symposium was held in the Administration Building, where AU President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai personally received the delegation. In his opening remarks, President Tsai emphasized that Asia University has long been committed to AI, smart healthcare, and cross-disciplinary integration. He expressed his hope that through deep cooperation with world-class universities, both institutions can jointly cultivate a new generation of talent with global competitiveness. President Panthongviriyakul expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and highly commended AU’s outstanding achievements in promoting smart technology and internationalization in recent years.
During the meeting, both parties entered the final stages of discussion regarding a "1+1 Master’s Dual Degree" agreement between the College of Information and Electrical Engineering and the College of Management. They further confirmed details concerning curriculum articulation, academic exchange, and student cultivation, laying a solid foundation for future dual-degree cooperation. At the conclusion of the symposium, the two presidents exchanged commemorative gifts, symbolizing the strengthening of their international partnership and turning a new page for future multifaceted collaboration.

To gain a deeper understanding of AU's achievements in smart healthcare, the delegation visited the Asia University Hospital. Led by Administrative Vice Superintendent Li-Wei Chou, the guests first visited the Department of Clinical Pathology to learn about the precision testing capabilities of the DXA 5000 high-end imaging system. They then proceeded to the Department of Rehabilitation to observe a live demonstration of rehabilitation robots. President Panthongviriyakul, who holds a professional medical background, was deeply impressed by AU’s practical integration of AI and automation into clinical rehabilitation, highly commending it as a vital model for smart hospital development.
In terms of semiconductor technology exchange, the delegation showed equally high interest. The itinerary was personally coordinated by AU Vice President Chun-Chieh Huang. Dean Ching-Hsien Hsu of the College of Information and Electrical Engineering delivered a keynote presentation, introducing the college's research capacity and the operational results of the Logic and Computation Laboratory, established in collaboration with the global chip leader AMD. This demonstrated AU's international competitiveness in IC design and semiconductor talent cultivation.
Subsequently, Vice President Huang personally guided the delegation to the Semiconductor Research Center. They toured advanced manufacturing facilities, including sputtering systems, evaporation systems, and thermal treatment equipment, gaining insight into AU's comprehensive layout in semiconductor process research and practical teaching. The delegation spoke highly of AU's development model, which seamlessly integrates academic research, industry linkages, and practical applications.
AU President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai stated that this international exchange not only deepens dual-degree cooperation in business management and industrial engineering but also expands opportunities in forward-looking fields such as smart healthcare, AI applications, and semiconductor technology. In the future, the two universities will continue to promote transnational academic exchanges, student exchange programs, and scientific research collaboration to jointly build an international higher education platform, further enhancing Asia University’s visibility on the global stage as a premier AI-driven smart campus.
