Asia University Achieves Its Highest-Ever Ranking Scale, Placing 253rd in Asia.

The British higher education evaluation organization QS has released the "2026 Best Universities in Asia" rankings. Asia University (AU) is ranked 253rd in Asia, placing 19th among 57 Taiwanese universities included in the ranking, 7th among private universities, and 3rd among private universities excluding medical schools.

This year marks the 17th edition of QS’s “Best Universities in Asia” ranking, which has reached its largest scale to date, evaluating a total of 1,529 universities from 25 countries and regions. The QS Asia University ranking is based on 11 key indicators, including academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty-to-student ratio, citations per paper, papers per faculty, proportion of PhD-qualified staff, international research network, international faculty, international students, inbound exchange students, and outbound exchange students.

Ben Sowter, Senior Vice President of QS, noted that the Taiwanese government has demonstrated strong ambitions for higher education internationalization, aiming to attract global talent to local universities. The ranking results indicate that government policies support universities in achieving these goals; however, Taiwanese institutions still need to strengthen research impact and employer reputation to maintain regional competitiveness.

Among the 57 Taiwanese universities included in the evaluation, Asia University ranked 253rd in Asia, 19th domestically, 7th among private universities, and 3rd among private non-medical universities.

Founder Chahai Tsai stated that the QS Asia University ranking is an important indicator of global academic and industry recognition, reflecting a university’s research strength and graduates’ international employability. Asia University continues to strive for excellence in academic research and career development, achieving steady progress in top global rankings while enhancing students’ competitiveness in the international job market.

President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai emphasized that AU’s performance across multiple domestic and international university ranking indicators reflects the university’s quality in education and management. With growing numbers of successful alumni excelling in the corporate sector, Asia University has consistently been recognized as a “top-choice private university for employers.” By focusing on interdisciplinary competencies, employability, and high pass rates for professional certification exams, AU demonstrates tangible results that are reflected in the QS ranking.
