Asia University’s Dr. Chao-Nung Wang Honored with 2026 AI AWARD for Best Solution in Smart Healthcare and Industry Integration
TAIPEI, TAIWAN — At the 2026 AI AWARD ceremony held during the Secutech 2026 expo on the 22nd, Dr. Chao-Nung Wang, Dean of Industry-Academia Collaboration at Asia University (AU), was presented with the Best Solution - Academic Industry Award. The Taiwan Artificial Intelligence Association (TAIA) recognized Dr. Wang for his exceptional ability to bridge the gap between advanced AI research and real-world industrial applications, particularly in the field of digital health.
Bridging Fundamental Research and Clinical Translation Dr. Wang has long focused on applying AI to life sciences. His work spans from basic theory to clinical translation:1.Fundamental Research: Integrating AI into cancer genomics and computational drug design to strengthen the scientific foundation of precision medicine.2.Clinical Application: Collaborating with medical teams in pediatrics, nephrology, cardiology, and emergency medicine to develop AI-driven decision support systems that enhance diagnostic precision.
National Recognition and Industrialization Milestones Dr. Wang’s continuous innovation has consistently earned national accolades. Following his National Innovation Awards in 2024 (Home Hemodialysis Monitoring) and 2025 (AI-Assisted Peritoneal Dialysis Monitoring), this latest award underscores his sustained R&D momentum.
Beyond research, Dr. Wang has been a key driver in the development of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). He successfully led Asia University to obtain both medical device manufacturer and distributor licenses, establishing a complete chain from lab to market. This achievement serves as a landmark for academic institutions entering the digital health industry.
Driving Corporate Digital Transformation The award also highlights Dr. Wang’s impact on the broader business sector. He has assisted numerous publicly traded companies in implementing AI-driven workflows and decision-making mechanisms, proving that AI’s benefits extend far beyond academia into substantial industrial transformation.
The 2026 AI AWARD jury concluded that Dr. Wang’s work perfectly embodies the spirit of the award—combining academic depth with profound industry impact. "His ability to transform cutting-edge technology into tangible social and industrial value makes him a truly deserving recipient," the committee stated.
