Learning About the Applications of AI and Big Data Analytics in Industry

Students from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at Asia University visit HIWIN Technologies to explore key robotic components on display.
To cultivate AI and IoT talents for the industry, students from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at Asia University (AU), led by Professor Hsush-Ting Chu, visited the 2025 Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. The visit aimed to help students learn about the practical applications of AI and big data analytics in industry while gaining insights into the latest technological advancements.
Professor Chu explained that TIMTOS is one of Taiwan's most significant international trade shows, featuring over 1,000 exhibitors this year. Themed "Integrate to Innovate," the event focuses on AI and robotics, smart manufacturing, and sustainable technologies. As central Taiwan is a major hub for precision machinery—home to around 5,000 manufacturers and accounting for nearly 70% of exports—this exhibition offers students a valuable opportunity to understand current industry trends.
The visit was part of AU’s Big Data Education Project, which encourages students to think about how to apply their skills in AI and data analytics to real-world industrial scenarios. Students also visited booths of AU’s close industry partners, including Delta Electronics and HIWIN Technologies. Delta showcased its industrial robots and Digital Twins systems, while HIWIN displayed a range of key robotic components. These experiences provided students with in-depth exposure to cutting-edge technologies and industry applications.
One student, visiting a major Taipei trade show for the first time, shared that the experience was eye-opening and inspired her to pursue AI studies with even greater enthusiasm.
