Indonesian Students: Hoping for the Opportunity to Apply for Graduate Studies and Continue Learning in Asia University's High-Quality Environment

Asia University (AU) has been selected as one of the 65 partner institutions worldwide for the Indonesian government's "International Mobility Program for Vocational Education" (IISMA). In the third phase of the program, 14 outstanding Indonesian students were chosen to study at AU for a full semester, focusing on AI-related courses. In addition to academic learning, they also participated in industry visits and training at six different companies in the fields of technology, information, design, and healthcare. The Indonesian government-sponsored students expressed their aspirations to pursue postgraduate studies at AU in the future, hoping to continue their education in its high-quality learning environment.
Professor Wen-Thong Chang, Chair of AU’s Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, emphasized that the IISMA program plays a crucial role in Indonesia’s higher education internationalization efforts. The initiative encourages students from Indonesian vocational institutions to engage in international exchange, training, and internships to enhance their multicultural competencies and global mobility. The Indonesian government provides full scholarships covering tuition, registration fees, living stipends, medical check-ups, and insurance for the entire semester. This semester, 14 Indonesian government-sponsored students have chosen to study in the department.
Professor Hsush-Ting Chu, coordinator of the IISMA internship program, highlighted that beyond their AI coursework at AU, the Indonesian students also organized a "National Heroes Day" cultural celebration, fostering interaction with local and international students. Additionally, they participated in study visits to six companies, including Tunghsu Technology, VeryGood Design, Race Information, Shian Chi Technology, Yusheng Technology, and Yongkang Nursing Home.
Professor Hsush-Ting Chu explained that the Department of Computer Science arranged for several industry mentors to assist the Indonesian students in learning about various industry-specific applications of information technology. The internship placements included:1.Shian Chi Technology: Training in drone applications, detection, and defense systems.2.Yusheng Technology: Learning about smart IoT solutions to enhance work efficiency and product quality.3.Race Information: Studying cybersecurity frameworks such as Zero Trust and Configuration Baselines (GCB/FCB).4.Tunghsu Technology: Exploring the latest AI technologies and their industrial applications, such as Extractive AI and Explainable AI.5.VeryGood Design: Developing tailored website designs for businesses and meeting project deadlines.6.Yongkang Nursing Home: Utilizing VR technology to create long-term care training programs.
The Indonesian students' outstanding performances have caught the attention of several company executives, who have extended job offers upon their graduation.
