209 Earn Google AI Essentials Certificates and 252 Become Gemini Certified Educators as Interdisciplinary Projects Drive Campus Transformation
As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes higher education, Asia University is advancing digital transformation across campus through training, certification, and hands-on practice, building an innovation ecosystem that integrates AI into teaching and administration. To date, 209 faculty and staff members have earned Google AI Essentials certificates, while 252 have obtained Gemini Certified Educator certification, reflecting strong engagement in AI learning across the university.
To translate these learning outcomes into practical applications, the university organized the Google Gemini Enterprise AI Innovation Competition, encouraging faculty and staff to use AI to address challenges in teaching and administration. Outstanding teams were recognized at the opening ceremony of the 2026 InterExpo interdisciplinary exploration expo on October 7, showcasing the university’s progress in smart campus innovation.
Asia University President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai said AI is transforming how knowledge is shared, work is performed, and problems are solved. Universities must therefore cultivate AI literacy among students while empowering faculty and administrative staff to drive digital transformation.
Through summer AI workshops, international professional certifications, and an innovation competition, Asia University has established a comprehensive framework for learning and practical application. The initiative encourages faculty and staff to identify challenges in their daily work, develop solutions, and translate AI capabilities into measurable improvements in teaching quality, administrative efficiency, and service delivery.
Tsai emphasized that successful AI transformation depends on innovative thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration as well as the adoption of technology. He encouraged the award-winning teams to continue exchanging ideas and sharing their results, helping effective solutions gain wider adoption across campus and strengthening collective innovation in higher education.
To deepen AI literacy across the university, Asia University secured approximately 800 AI tool accounts with support from Google and MetaAge, enabling faculty and staff to learn and experiment with AI. Professional training and certification incentives further support the continued development of digital skills. The university awards NT$1,000 to each person who completes Google AI Essentials and NT$500 to each person who earns Gemini Certified Educator certification.
By combining institutional support with financial incentives, Asia University is fostering a campus-wide culture of shared learning and active AI adoption, laying the groundwork for teaching innovation and digital transformation in administration.
