97 International Papers Compete, 35 Selected to Advance Trustworthy AI Governance, Cybersecurity Defense, and Smart Applications

In response to the rapid evolution of generative artificial intelligence and global digital security challenges—including cyberattacks, data privacy, and AI governance—Asia University hosted the 2026 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity Research and Innovation (AISRI 2026) from September 18 to 19. Gathering over 100 scholars, researchers, and industry experts from 15 countries, the conference focused on frontier topics such as trustworthy AI, post-quantum security, autonomous agent governance, and smart healthcare. Out of 97 paper submissions received from over 10 countries, 35 were selected through rigorous peer review, showcasing the accelerated interdisciplinary integration of AI and cybersecurity research while highlighting Asia University's ongoing commitment to connecting global research capabilities and deepening its forward-looking technology portfolio.

Asia University President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai stated that artificial intelligence is rapidly penetrating industries and daily life. However, technological innovation without safety, reliability, and robust governance mechanisms can hardly achieve real-world deployment. In recent years, Asia University has continuously strengthened its AI and cybersecurity research while actively expanding international academic collaborations. Through international platforms like AISRI, the university aims to connect faculty, students, and research teams directly with global edge research, fostering cross-border and interdisciplinary cooperation while cultivating a new generation of talent with both technological prowess and a global perspective.

Organized by the International Center for AI and Cybersecurity Research and Innovation (CCRI) at Asia University, the conference moved beyond discussing what AI can accomplish to addressing how AI can be used safely and dependably. Key topics included zero-day attack detection, prompt injection attacks, post-quantum security, Linux threat monitoring, autonomous agent governance, and explainable intrusion detection for the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT)—reflecting how cybersecurity defense and governance mechanisms have become integral components of technological applications amidst the swift growth of generative AI.

Meanwhile, interdisciplinary AI applications served as another primary focal point. Research presented spanned human-AI collaboration, privacy protection, pregnancy risk monitoring, Alzheimer's disease detection, air quality monitoring, financial forecasting, and engineering/industrial applications integrating knowledge graphs with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). These topics illustrated the emerging convergence of AI, cybersecurity, smart healthcare, the Internet of Things, and intelligent systems.

Professor Brij B. Gupta, Founder and General Chair of AISRI, Director of CCRI, and Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at Asia University, noted that out of the 97 submissions from over 10 countries, 30 regular papers, 3 short papers, and 2 poster papers were accepted. Accepted papers presented at the conference are planned for submission to Scopus-indexed proceedings. The conference also featured keynote speakers and industry experts from the United States, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Thailand, who shared their latest findings on intelligent systems, enterprise AI infrastructure, smart cities, and cybersecurity, further expanding Asia University's links with the international research community.

Professor Brij B. Gupta highlighted that AISRI 2026 not only provided a platform for exchanging international research outcomes but also bridged interdisciplinary capabilities across AI, cybersecurity, and smart applications. Moving forward, through continuous international collaboration, the center aims to deepen the connection between cutting-edge technology research and practical applications, expanding Asia University's global research network in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
